Carpool from Sheppard West Station passenger pickup, meet 7:50AM. Situated between Parry Sound and Barrie on the east coast of Georgian Bay, the McCrae Lake Wilderness Area possesses the rugged beauty of the Canadian Shield. This is a challenging but rewarding hike. We'll pass by spectacular views of the lake from atop granite cliffs, windswept white pines, bedrocks, beaver dams and wetlands. The terrain is rocky and challenging, the section over the north side of the lake is wild and sparsely marked (mostly bushwhacking), there is a possible water crossing at the McCrae Lake narrows, and a steep ascent over rock. Lunch will be at the narrows. Expect glorious fall colours. RSVP requirements: Everybody will be RSVP'd to the Waiting List. Only "Going" members can attend events.
